Microblogging Update II
Searching for Content
This is another case where it is likely that I'll remain without writing a microblog for a while, so I decided to write one just talking about random things until I get more time to write about anything else. One, because I am back to writing a novel, and I'm pretty close to finishing that... The second idea I have is for a blog post. So you know, there are a lot of things that I want to make, not much for this particular place.
I had an idea a couple of days ago, I've realized that, given the amount of things on the Internet, perhaps it is possible to find an amount of good quality things enough to keep one entertained without the need of low quality slop. And what I mean by good quality things is not simply more things to check out but a somewhat consistent amount of good things. I have plenty of sources that are like that, you know those YouTubers or Bloggers that you want to read or watch their videos when they release new material? So yeah, I've been looking for more stuff like that, blogs and videos, I even checked live streams.
Hmm... when it comes to livestreams, I am not a big fan. I already despise popular streamers; they are basically the Hollywood of the Internet. They are always in some drama, they talk about shit as if their opinion is the most important thing ever, they have fans who think they are their friends and are manipulated by these streamers into giving them money. If anything the process became more direct... It is very strange to me when someone complains about social-media abusing psychological behavior in humans when streamers do the same thing... because streamers are the result of social-media — they are basically e-celebs.
With that said, just in the same way I use social-media, there is nothing wrong with watching streamers in itself1... you just have to be aware of what you are watching and for what reason. Of course, as someone attracted to anime girls/anime boys, my natural reaction was to go towards VTubers. Nothing really caught my eye, despite how over abundant the VTuber space is, most VTubers are the same type of person doing the same type of content — but also, it's not like I was expecting anything else, yes, obviously they will be playing video-games. What's the other option? Talking all day? Possible.
So in the end despite my exploration I did not find much "good quality" material. There are still places to search; we are looking for gold in the mines. In my search through personal website I also found something slightly annoying:
Very cool websites —design wise— that have zero content, just a list of link to other websites and an about section for the webmaster who almost 100% of the time is an artist. I swear artist just want to make the site look pretty and move on to something else, they don't even want to use the site they made. Well, I guess I can understand they don't have time, in theory many people do not have the time, but if that's the case how were they able to make it look so good in the first place? No, this is not a matter of time, it's probably a matter of the lack of feedback one receives from having a website (artists are egotistical creatures) — and the fact that websites are less marketable than social-media (artists have more in common with corporations than the average person) so they cannot advance their brand and gather commissions. If anything their website is just another "showcase" of their ability to produce.
Well, whatever, I am no communist — They can sell or do whatever they want. My problem with artists is a problem I have with copyright, they just happen to be one the benefactors of the system, and the ones who happen to receive a lot of support from the common-folk. But I digress, this is not a rant about copyright...
Taking Notes
Lately I've started taking notes of things, things I read, things I watch, just trying to put my thoughts as frequently as possible into words. My reasoning is that eventually I'll be able to do it with more ease. I guess it must work in some sense; it is so much easier to write my thoughts thanks to this blog, for example, so I'm taking it one step forward and applying it to other things. This came from the fact that lately I haven't been thinking about things thoroughly, and I've been just enjoying them as they are, which is nice, but I think it is always better to have something to say — even if you don't say it!
So I've been doing that, I've also taken a more inquisitive approach to things, for example if while checking posts on an imageboard I find an image that looks nice in the past I would just think about it for a couple of seconds and move on, but now I've started to save those images: memes, fan art or anime screenshots, and trying to find their origins, and who knows, maybe it is something I'll enjoy. It's been fun... if you have the time you should do that, you can go in some interesting rabbit holes. I wish to apply this to other things... while also taking the more relaxed approach to things that are temporal, something that needs less data and is more transient, for example, listening to online radio or watching films live. I think I am above the "I must search for music for all these playlist that I'll never listen to". I'll just check the radio, I'll check the YouTube channels that upload full releases whenever I feel like listening to a full album, my era of "making pointless playlists" is over.
Maximizing the exploration of downloadable data while minimizing the time exploring transient data; trying to enjoy the moment while it is available for things I am going to move on from. Perhaps to you, it is a different thing, perhaps you are really into music — in a more autistic way — and you want to know everything about bands and musicians (I am not this type of person). Anyway, it is about what works for you.
As for my note-taking app, which is something people online care a lot about (for some ungodly reason), I think the most important part of software is that it has to be usable and look good. I tend to take more maximalist approaches rather than the common Linux minimalism, simply because it looks better; the appearance of something really gets me into the mood to use it. That's why unfortunately, to the dismay of some, I must say that I am using Obsidian (which is no surprise if you are watching my YouTube videos). Anyway, this is also a point where you should use whatever the fuck you find good — whatever gets you to do the thing you want to.
Well, that should be it. You know? The micro in microblog is for the amount of effort, I figured.
And there is a similarity between live-streaming and film, in the sense that you can still watch the film of an amateur and enjoy it without being involved with Hollywood and their drama and fanaticism, and in the same way you can still watch streamers with low-views who are probably going to quit anyways, even if for the time they do decide to stream (until they figure out they will not make money and instead will be forced to work and have to choose if they want to continue streaming as a hobby... which it should be!)↩
